Over the course of a decade, we invited 1,500 intense kids of all ages right into our own home for the most unique Summer Camps in the country. Because of demand, we are no longer able to provide these same Camps.
So we have created an exciting new Camp
that will be much more accessible to kids of all ages and families everywhere.
The
idea grew organically out of Casey’s work with kids, especially hearing
questions from kids that are very deep. It has been moving to see kids
searching for answers, for relationships with their parents, for a hopeful
vision of the future.
We
have heard from hundreds of kids who listen to Casey’s CDs daily, sometimes
before bed. Casey now answers questions from kids directly (with our oversight,
of course) and it is this connection—from one kid to another—that is proving so
helpful and encouraging.
We are going to apply the same objectives and content designed for our regular
Camps to virtual Camps throughout the summer of 2010.
10 Camp Objectives for Kids
1. Develop a positive attitude toward myself and my future.
2. Identify my natural strengths,
talents and passions—what am I good
at doing, what do I love doing? What makes
me feel content and
energized?
3. Develop a positive vision for the future.
4. Develop a concrete, written action
plan to use my strengths and
passions in practical ways.
5. Attain more freedom and power by
taking responsibility for my mood,
attitude and choices in life.
6. Banish excuses from my life. Take on full responsibility.
7. Learn how to control my own
emotions even when disappointed,
frustrated, anxious and overwhelmed.
8. Build internal confidence and forge new friendships.
9. Channel the energy and intensity into overcoming obstacles.
10. Learn how to successfully work through issues with parents,
siblings
and friends.
Even
if we can help kids feel positive about their future and learn how to calm
down, that will be a major improvement for most of our kids. And we can do
that.
Who will benefit from this Camp?
The Camp will benefit every child because the principles taught are timeless.
Obviously, older kids (age 9+) have a greater ability for self-awareness and
following through on work. It’s a terrific foundation for younger kids, who
will need more active help from their parents. Older kids will be able to run
with this largely on their own. Active collaboration between parents and kids
is always a recipe for success.
We
have a special heart for kids who are struggling a bit, like they are fighting
to swim upstream. These kids are often old souls, kids who feel very
comfortable in the adult world. Some are deep thinkers, withdrawn and may appear
unmotivated right now. Others may be defiant and fighting you. We love those
kids, especially when we can get them using that intensity and persistence to
fight obstacles instead of you! All of these kids have big hearts and we’re
going to use their compassion to help others. We want to equip kids who are
looking for something greater, who don’t want to be nagged anymore, who are
ready to take charge of their lives.
Many of our kids are caught in a trap. They have these great gifts and
passions, but school and society never recognize or reward their strengths.
Most of our time is spent trying to “fix” these kids and their weaknesses. But
the truth is that every successful person in life confidently uses his natural
gifts, talents and passions to help other people or society. This leads to
productive uses of their energy and skills, and ultimately generates inner
satisfaction and purpose, not to mention money. Successful people are
relentlessly positive and take control of their lives—they don’t make excuses
or allow any obstacle to get in their way.
Planned Activities
1. Upon registration, we will email you a Discovery Form so that we can
learn more about your child(ren). You can tell us as much or as little as you
want about your kids.
2.
We will thoroughly assess each Discovery Form so that we can customize content
to meet your child’s specific needs. Each child is an individual and each
deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
3. We will be using a special Workbook that has been an extremely effective tool for assessing your kids’ gifts and talents, and developing a positive action plan.
4.
Each child will complete a thorough SuccessPlan Workbook that will serve as a
written guide for their future. It will include a survey of their natural
gifts, talents and passions; specific goals and action plans with dates; skills
needed to achieve their goals; positive affirmations and specific commitments;
tools parents need to provide; and much more.
5. Each week, Casey and I will communicate with your kids (and you) in several
different ways:
A) We will send short written email newsletters. These can be read and re-read.
B)
Casey will answer specific questions from your kids. I can tell you this is
very powerful. When else do kids get to ask questions, to feel heard, and get a
reply from another kid?
C)
I will answer questions from your kids. Kids have great questions about how to
deal with parents—you’ll be surprised how mature they are. D)
We will record special audio messages that your kids can listen to online. It’s
fun hearing another kid’s voice speaking directly to you and your kids can
listen anywhere, at anytime, as often as they want.
E)
We will post encouraging notes, ideas and messages from other kids on a special
Facebook page to create a sense of community and acceptance.
One of the most exciting components is that we will be asking kids to share
their gifts, passions and talents, by email and by posting on Facebook. Kids
will get to see that they share a lot of great traits and skills—and struggles
as well—with other kids from all over the country. We will celebrate your
child’s unique gifts and passions.
Other Details The
Camp activities will run from June 15 to September 15, so we can get kids off
to a good start at school. Kids can join Camp at any time.
The fee includes participation by your entire family and all your children, not
just one child. We want to impact the entire family.
Campers will be given exclusive access to special email addresses, online links, audio recordings and Facebook page.
Even when on vacation and caught up in the busyness of summer life, your kids can tap into Casey and Camp insight at anytime.
Most
of the year, we spend too much time on fixing everything we think is wrong with
our kids. It’s discouraging. We want to spend the summer inspiring, motivating
and encouraging your kids. We want them getting a vision for a hopeful future
and developing a concrete plan to fulfill their dreams. We also want them to
know they are not alone—there are lots of kids just like them.
